Job Description

A Solution Engineer (SE), also known as a Presales Representative, Is an active participant in the software sales cycle at SAP as a member of the SAP Virtual Account Team.

Responsibilities of a Netweaver Solution Engineer include active participation in any of the

Following: site survey, strategy sessions, value based product presentations or demonstrations, SAP Partner Mentoring and training, and after sale transition to consulting services.

Primary tasks are designed to support the sales team around Deal Support, Demand Generation and Sales Readiness.

The Netweaver Solution Engineer will prepare and deliver software demonstrations to various levels of clients as part of deal support. Preparation includes personalization of demos or custom demo development to meet the needs of prospective customers and ensure delivery of a simple, appealing and compelling presentation.

Participate in industry forums and conduct road shows and seminars for focus groups either independently or in conjunction with partners to disseminate information on SAP solutions to the industry.

Desired Profile
Strong understanding and deep technical and functional expertise of Netweaver solutions. This role will require strong technology skill sets to deliver custom proof-of-concept Netweaver applications.

The key skills required to support these efforts are developer level knowledge of the SAP Netweaver Platform

Ability to acquire deep SAP knowledge. Must understand how business applications are aligned with technical architecture of SAP platform.

Ability to demonstrate the value of the solution (not just demonstrate the functionality), and the ability to build a strong working relationship with both the prospect, SAP Partners and the SAP Virtual Account Team.

Communicates the business requirements to project/implementation team after completion of sale to ensure a smooth transition from presales to implementation stages, warranting a

continuous degree of customer satisfaction.

Ability to grow into the role of Solution Captain (lead SE on the Virtual Account Team).

Strong desire to work in a sales organization to provide sales support to Account Executives as a product expert.

Possess strong sense of teamwork, integrity, self motivation, positive attitude, and works to

solve problems

Education and Qualifications

Bachelor equivalent: minimum requirement

Master equivalent: optional


Minimum of 5+ years technical pre-sales experience supporting fortune 1000 level sales

Engagements OR 3-5 Years Solutions Specialist (equivalent customer facing) experience in

supporting Netweaver Solutions.

Candidate should have strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

Proven ability to articulate a solution’s business value and financial benefits (Value-Based


Technical proficiency in Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) framework, concepts and


Understanding of ESB/EAI utilities (i.e., NetWeaver PI, Tibco, WebMethods etc.) and respective integration strategies.

Ability to articulate system architecture design including two/three tier architectures, high availability and disaster recovery metaphors.
